How We Do It
BOOK REVIEWS
Research by Taylor and Francis and other scholars highlights the pivotal role books play in nurturing aspirations among young people. Our own experiences as student readers have shown us that reading books is the most sustainable and cost-effective way to broaden our horizons.
Why Books Matter:
As one insightful perspective puts it,
“A good nonfiction book reflects the wisdom of countless others. By reading one great book, you gain insights equivalent to those from a hundred others.”
Our Approach:
We’ve designed a structured program where participants carefully read handpicked books recommended by our mentor academicians. Through online discussions, they share their learnings. Each book read earns participants points, which translates into monetary rewards.
LEADERSHIP DRILLS
Alongside book reviews, we offer leadership drills every two months to promote local acts of leadership among our readers. These drills encourage participants to engage in their communities, such as schools, colleges, and neighborhoods.
For instance, participants might host events to discuss sustainability in daily living.
Purpose:
The aim is for youth to see themselves as changemakers and develop essential skills like critical thinking, leadership, problem-solving, and communication. Through these drills, we foster a sense of responsibility and empowerment, helping young people become effective leaders in their communities.
ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS
The third component, ‘Enrichment Programs,’ includes various initiatives to support readers’ holistic development:
- Weekly Workshops – Nurturing Readers: Bringing top industry leaders to deliver practical knowledge and tips from lifestyle to career and mental health.
- Scholarship and Mentorship Program – Aspire: Providing guidance and financial support for academic and personal growth.
- Offline Event – Saanjh: Bringing the community together for shared learning experiences in offline spaces.
These programs support readers in their journey to becoming holistic leaders. Additionally, we offer internships for participants to contribute back to the project and gain practical skills.
